Poetry

I normally do not share the poems and stories that I write ….usually because I am afraid of what people will think or say about them. SO this is my baby step in fearing God and not man. May you enjoy and be encouraged!

No Pretending
September 15, 2007
(a song: I sing to my children most nights and I am sometimes singing my thoughts and/or prayers. Sorry if it does not make for a good poem)

Did you ever feel that life’s unkind?
And do you ever find it hard to have some peace of mind?
Well, I do feel that way today
And I really just don’t have much to say

So I’m here
Just here with you
And I know that you will see me through
This is real. I have no fear
Cause there is no pretending here

As I kneel
I fall on my face
I can not seem to feel your grace
I am small in a world so big and tall
I barely have the strength to call

So I’m here
Just here with you
And I know that you will see me through
This is real. I have no fear
Cause there is no pretending here

Everyone is changing
Always rearranging
What they want and who they are and what is fine
I can’t keep up with what they say to be
I can’t seem to just be me
And I feel that I am lying all the time

So I’m here
Just here with you
And I know that you will see me through
This is real. I have no fear
Cause there is no pretending here

There is no pretending that you
Are who you say you are
And a grave lies empty to prove you true
In world that is aimlessly chasing a fantasy
It is my joy to love and serve you

So I’m here
Just here with you
And I know that you will see me through
This is real. I have no fear
Cause there is no pretending here

In thinking of the sun
August 28, 2007
Look to the east, O people
The dawn approaches
And Gods faithfulness rises
To bring new mercy

Look to the east, O people
Cast your eyes on the shadow of His face
For the sun is but a dim light
When compared to His glory

Look to the east, O people
With baited breath and expectation
For soon the skies will part
And the King of Kings shall descend

Look to the east, O people
Restoration is on its way…

Increase my Faith
August 20th, 2007
Increase my faith that I may see
All that you have done for me
So I can walk in your ways
Even on my darkest days
Teach me how to run to you
Though rebellious and confused
For you know my wicked heart
And how its divided into parts
Half that longs to know you more
The other selfish to the core

Increase my faith that I may be
Swift and beautiful for thee
When I am old and have gray hair
And my skin turns from tan to fair
Let me not sit back and sigh
As if it is the time to lie
In a chair with nothing to do
But watch TV and dream of who
Used to be famous, pretty or fine
And compare their life to mine
But rather let me see that I
could at any moment die
And find myself at your feet
Oh, let my life be found so sweet.
I long to want to see your face
To finish well this life and race
Lord you gave me eternal life
Free of anguish, free of strife
Remind me of my one true home
Help my heart not to roam
Give me eyes of expectation
Fill my heart with great elation

Increase my faith so I can run
Until my life on earth is done
Show me who I am in you
So I may remember who
Truly is worthy of my praise
And teach me to always raise
My hands up high
So that I
May have the story
That I lived for your glory!

**I am sorry but I will not be posting any comments on this page. I am afraid that I would then no longer write for the right reasons. However, for those of you who have your encouragement is appreciated. Thank you!

  • Rebecca, you are such a delight and encouragement to me, and I am so glad to share those dear third grade Sunday Schoolers with you!

Read your poetry and was blessed.

    (what became of the possum?????)
